With the opening of the cross-harbour section of the East Rail Line, the Mid-Life Refurbishment (MLR) train, nicknamed “Fly Head”, retired on 6 May 2022 after 40 years of service. The 1:87 model is a representation of the last MLR train in service, with Sha Tin as the destination. Just like the real train that bade farewell to the public, the model train features “thank you” stickers on both the cab as well as the windows and doors to recreate the final and historical moment of the MLR train. The model also captures the details from the exterior to the roof structure and the interior including the seats, handrails and straphangers. Each model comes with a uniquely numbered certificate, making it a coveted collectible.
The train model is created to capture the unique features of the real-life Tuen Ma Line train, from the train body and roof structure to the interior including seating, the dynamic route map above the doors and branched handrails.
Destination shows as Wu Kai Sha Station. It even has cab doors that can be opened and closed manually. What’s more, a numbered certificate of authenticity is included with each model to make it a true collectible.
The boxset includes 8 versions of MTR mini diecast trains, namely Airport Express, Island Line, Kwun Tong Line, High Speed Rail, South Island Line, Tung Chung Line, Tuen Ma Line and East Rail Line.
